So I guess it’s safe to assume that whatever comes out of Jon Bon Jovi’s mouth is going to be nothing but tripe, be it a song or flippant declaration. As has been echoed throughout the web today, his gaffe-tastic “Steve Jobs is personally responsible for killing the music business” assertion will no doubt be regarded as one of the most egregious statements ever uttered by a Reagan era has-been. As if possessing the magical ability of tirade trifecta, Bon Jovi manages to emote fear, scorn, and mendacity all in one fantastically terrible grunt.
I suppose my biggest issue is that he’s not even being hyperbolic. His remarks simply have no basis in reality. Steve Jobs killed the music business? For the past decade Jobs and Apple have been at the forefront of revolutionizing the industry. Gone are the days of limited local music selections and big label bullying. Freedom of choice is here to stay.
While Bon Jovi pines for the days of yesteryear, his childhood anecdotes reveal more Luddism than nostalgia. And he may have gotten a thrill out of the unknown, yet I always cringed at the thought of forking out $12-$20 for a CD that likely only had 1-2 songs that I would listen to and enjoy. Call me crazy, but I actually prefer choice, freedom, and convenience.
Note to Bon Jovi: Stop making music. Your brand of “art” is what’s killing the business. However, you did have some great album covers.

Following the release of the iPhone 4 earlier this year, we have received many repair requests for this device. Most of the requests have been for screen replacements because of broken glass (digitizer) and/or LCD.
Just like any other repair company, we are able to order the replacement parts for the iPhone 4 and are more than capable to perform repairs on this device. Yet, you will notice on our iPhone repair page that we currently service only the iPhone 3G and 3GS. Why don’t we service the iPhone 4? The answer is simple: We are unable to offer a solution that is better or even comparable to what Apple is able to provide.
For example: Due to cost of parts, difficulty of repair process, and overall repair time; we would need to charge within the range of $149 – $199 for an iPhone 4 display replacement. This pricing is fairly standard throughout the industry. However, if your iPhone 4 has a broken screen (or virtually any other damage), Apple will replace the entire unit for $199. This is documented on Apple’s iPhone repair FAQ.
All iPhones come standard with a 1 year warranty from Apple. One can also purchase AppleCare to extend the coverage an additional year. If your phone incurs accidental damage but is swapped out by Apple, it maintains its current warranty. Only Apple is authorized to do in-warranty iPhone repairs. If a third party company (this includes Break Free Tech Solutions) performs a repair on an iPhone 4, the warranty is voided.
Why is this important? Let’s say that 6 months after the screen repair, your logic board fails. As previously stated, if your phone has undergone third party repairs, your warranty from Apple is void. This means, of course, that you would have to spend an additional $199 on top of previous repair costs just to get your phone back to working order. This scenario, obviously, could have been avoided had you taken the phone to Apple from the outset.
Considering these facts, the current, best option for iPhone 4 repairs is, unquestionably, to get it replaced by Apple.
We are certainly not opposed to doing iPhone 4 repairs; we are eager to do them. But we will only offer iPhone 4 repairs (and any other repair or service) when it is beneficial to our customers.
For iPhone 4 repairs, contact Apple Support or make a Genius Bar reservation at your local Apple Store.
